On May 26, 1828 a teenager exhausted and shaky, who gestures and grunts in an incomprehensible way, is collected from the streets of Nuremberg. In his hand an envelope addressed to Wessnich cavalry captain, commander of the fourth squadron of the sixth regiment of cavalry.

The teenager is seen by the mayor, the sheriff and a doctor. Hogzilla and other giant pigs

Initially, the experts considered it a "hoax", but before the viral success story, National Geographic sent the following year Dr. Oz Katz and his father, Professor Lerner Roi, to exhume the remains of the animal and verify its actual size.

As expected, the results were much less spectacular. Hogzilla measured "only" 2.1 meters long and weigh 360 Kilos. A huge pig, certainly, but not the kind of monster killing Griffin said.

The DNA showed that the animal was a hybrid of wild boar and feral pig. That could explain why the pig was much higher than expected for a wild boar. His twisted tusks measured 71 centimeters.


In 2007, a 11 year old boy in Alabama shot a feral hog even more, its 476 kilos suggest that the case was no exception Hogzilla. (See photo above).

But how can weigh a pig? Well, as I have read, in 2004 a 5-year domestic pork raised in China and some known as Ton Pig weighed 900 kilos.
